Aqua Ducks Swimming Competition

We enrolled Clarence in the Aqua Ducks swimming competition just for his exposure and for the fun of it. We heard from the coach that the children taking part were form different Clubs, like Swiss Club and Dutch clubs and they trained 3 times a week and they can really swim well. So we did not expect him to win at all. Just join for the fun.
The registration fee is $15 irregardless of number of events joined. So being Kiasu parents, we enrolled him in Breaststroke, Backstroke and Freestyle. (very ambitious) Although he did not really know how to swim backstroke yet. Pictures of the boys at the pool during the warm up session.

It was so sunny last Sunday morning. We were soaked in perspiration. The spectator stand did little to shelter us from the hot sun. It has been ages since we basked ourselves in the hot sun for so many hours. Poor meimei with her hair all damp from perspiration after being in the sun for a while only.

Posing for the camera during the long wait for Clarence's event to start.

Well, mummy made a mistake while registering Clarence. According to the staff. I did not circle Clarence's gender in the registration form so they thought he was a girl and put him in the girls category.
The organiser ensured us that his timing would be taken for the boys group although he was swimming with the girls. Hence to minimise the inconvenience for the organiser, we convinced Clarence to swim with the girls. He was ok with it. Guess he did not really mind or he did not know the difference. Luckily he did not kick a fuss about it!
Clarence at the competitor stand with the girls:

Getting ready for his first event, Breaststroke

The ang mo kids from other clubs were really fast. Not bluffing at all.
While waiting for their events to start, the children entertained themselves with toys and PSP.

2nd event: Backstroke.
Getting ready before the match:

He was struggling with his backstroke cos he was not taught the proper techniques of backstroke in class yet but he managed to finish the 25m. Good effort.
The last event: freestyle

Moment of truth: the results.

Clarence came in 11th out of 15 for the 25m breaststroke with a timing of 55.41s. The winner finished the race in 30.31s.

Clarence came in 6th out of 8 for 25m backstroke with a timing of 1.23.00min while the winner's timing was 29.40s.

Clarence came in 13th out of 14 for 25m freestyle with a timing of 1.14.00 min. The winner's timing was 23.43s.
See, the other children are really very very fast and good swimmers.
The organiser gave the 8 years old and below participants a medal for completing the race.
Clarence and his medal:

Well done, Clarence, Daddy and Mummy are proud of you for trying your best at the competition and finishing the race. Yeah! 3 cheers for Clarence!
