Hong Kong Holiday I (8/3/2012 to 11/3/2012)

My dear has been bugging me to update the blog for our Hong Kong trip. Mummy has been sitting on it for more than a month since we came back. So many pictures to run through, so little time, so lazy...... Just ganna "suan" again by him this morning, so here I go:
Since mummy is on leave now, we took the chance and went Hong Kong from 8/3 to 11/3. We left on Thurs to avoid the crowd during march holiday. Clarence happily skipped 2 days of school. We checked in through the internet so we went to airport an hour before flight departure. After checking in our luggage, we went for breakfast then photo taking.

We were so happy taking photos, we did not realise that the plane is flying off soon. While we were walking to the gate, we met some staff and they asked if we were taking the flight to Hong Kong. They told us the plane was going to take off soon and asked us to run to the gate. No joke, the staff ran in front of us and kept asking us to run quickly, So we really ran to catch the plane. It was so embarrassing! But Vincy thought it was fun to run to catch the plane (fun for her cos daddy was carrying her and running at the same time). Really an experience, haha!

Puppet

Clarence told us he need to make a puppet. When asked about the puppet details, he was not able not tell us. So we asked him to go back to school to check with his classmates. After checking, he told us the puppet need to be made from some recycled materials. So daddy spent more than an hour making the puppet for him.

However, his work was rejected by the teacher. In the end, we found out that the teacher actually want a puppet in traditional costume. Wrong information thus wrong product. Poor daddy, effort wasted.

Term 1 progress report 2012

Nothing much to grumble about his term 1 results but really need to work harder on his behaviour in class.

Vincy's art class

Vincy attended her first art lesson in mid march. She loves her art lesson. Art lesson is her favourite lesson now.

Busy at work:

We purchased the art pad from the school and she will colour on it every week. It takes her about three lessons to finish colouring.
The picture:

After lesson 2:

The finished work after lesson 3: (there are always some cut-outs for her to colour and paste on the drawing)

They will also do drawing for each lesson. The teacher will draw on the board for them to copy onto their paper. Her drawings for the first 2 lesson (more of her teacher's work than hers in these cases)

First guitar lesson

Clarence started his first guitar lesson last Saturday. He learnt how to hold the guitar and played 2 notes for the first lesson.
My little handsome:

Bought a guitar stand and step stool for Clarence yesterday.

Pose

My little vain gal posing for the camera while waiting for daddy to buy things.

Well, some ugly poses!

She is very naughty nowadays. Just caught her throwing rice on the floor last night so that she can finish her food faster than gor gor. Faint!

Last year results

Very very late post, this was Clarence last year results.
Term 4:

In his report book, the teacher attached a slip, indicating the class mean, maximum and minimum mark. I found that rather useful for parents to gauge how their children are doing as compared to his peers in class.

The slip also indicate the level mean, maximum and minimum marks scored for each subject. Another gauge for your child's standing as compared to his peers in the level.

Clarence's P1 overall result slip:

His marks for all subjects are higher than the class's mean (relief for mum). But in the level, his Maths and Chinese are above the level mean, his English is slightly below. All Band 1 (another relief for me).

Passed with Merit

Clarence took his grade 3 piano exam on 29 Feb. Got the results a month later from his piano teacher. He got a pass with merit. Considered an achievement for a first timer cos he skipped 2 grades. We are pleased with his results.

Proud

Clarence and his dance mates have been practicing very hard for the 2012 SYF. They practised 4 times a week for 5 weeks during the dec holidays. When school reopens, they practice every morning from 7 to 7.45am and another 3 hrs of practice during CCA on Mondays and Fridays. They spent 5 days of the march holiday practicing too. Their efforts paid off, they came back with Gold with Honours! This is the dance team 4 in a row Gold with Honours award since 2006.
Clarence only danced a small part in the dance but he never complained about his small part although he wished he can dance more. But since he is only in P2 and a first timer in SYF, it is understandable that the instructor gave him a small part.

The SYF 2012 dance put up by the Catholic high boys:

Mummy and Vincy went to the University of Cultural Centre 0n 2nd April to support Clarence. My heavily make-up boy after the SYF:

They went as a team to listen to the SYF results on 4th April:

Celebration party on 5th April: CHEERS!

I must say the teachers and dance instructor are really very dedicated. Clarence enjoys going for his dance CCA and I hope he learns teamwork, perseverance and dedication from his CCA.

Mathematics certificate

He came home happily one day and showed me what he got:

He got the certificate cos he got full marks for the mini test in term 1. According to him, there were quite a few of his classmates getting the 1st position certificate but mummy is still glad that he was one of those receiving it. Well done!
