Clarence and shoelaces

His old pair of shoes was too small for him so we gave him a new pair, one with shoelaces. That day after school when I picked him, he looked very grouchy. He hated the shoelaces cos they kept coming off despite him tying them back again and again. He did not want to wear them anymore.

Daddy came home in the evening and tied a dead knot for the shoes so now Clarence just need to slip his feet in.
So the problem was: mummy did a lousy job in the morning tying his shoelaces for him. Oops!

Vincy's Yamaha Concert (30 June)

Vincy sang 2 songs with her classmates and performed 2 short pieces on the piano in the Yamaha Concert. The songs she played were: "Going on a picnic" and "See you tomorrow". I was very worried when she began to play her second piece because she did not practice that song at home for the concert at all. The original songs she prepared were: "Going on a picnic" and "I am a King" but the teacher said the song "I am a King" was too short and asked her to play another song instead. Last minute stress!
Glad that she only made one mistake in the 2 songs she played. Well done, Vincy!

This is her last lesson with Yamaha. We will be sending her to the same piano teacher as Clarence and she will be having a one to one session instead of group class. Relief for us cos that will free up our Sundays and mummy need not go in with her to the piano class anymore.

In loving memories of Gemie

Gemie has been with us for more than 10 years. She left us on 28 June 2013. We were all heart-broken. She has not been well since few months ago, could not retain food, kept throwing up. Despite the ultra sound scan and blood test done on her, the vet could not pinpoint her illness. So she was on long-term anti vomit medicine.
Our beloved Gem:

I was at home when she left and no matter how I called her name, she did not respond to me.

She was cremated on the next day and all of us including the kids went to sent her off.

 Goodbye

We brought her ashes back and placed it in the balcony. You will be missed, Gemie.

Science holiday homework

Clarence brought a packet of soil, a pot and some seeds home on the last day of term 2. His Science holiday homework: to grow sunflower seeds and observe. He excitedly followed instructions from Daddy and both of them planted the seeds inside:

After a few days:

On 16 June:

On 25 June:

His plant is growing very well. Thought it was an interesting piece of homework, teaching kids about responsibility of taking care of the plant and observation skills and know more about the various parts of the plant.
I initially thought it was easy to grow the plant until some parents whatsapp then I realised most of his classmates plants did not grow at all. So it was not that easy after all.
Are we just lucky or should I give the credit to Daddy?

First electric guitar recital

Clarence was recommended by his teacher to go for a music recital organised by the music school. It is a platform for their students to exhibit what they have learnt. He will be playing real band with other guitarists, singer and drummer from the music school. Went for 2 rehearsals and these photos were taken during the recent rehearsal.

The actual performance day: 23 June 2013
He was the youngest in the band. My little rocker:

Video of the song they were performing: pumped up kicks

Well done, son!

Day 4@ Club Med Bintan (16-19June)

Last day of our holiday, sob sob!
Mummy and Vincy went to the pool while Daddy and Clarence went to the beach to feed the fish and return the clam they found yesterday.

Saw the elephant before we left. Guests can ride the elephant but as we were leaving, we had no time for elephant rides.

Packed and ready to leave:

They got their certificates from Club Med:

Had so much fun that we didn't really feel like leaving. Really enjoyed the endless flow of food and drinks and activities in Club Med. We had our many first times here: archery, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing, flying trapeze, beach volleyball.
Will 5D4N be better? I asked my dear, he told me no matter how many days of holiday also won't be enough. True though.

Will just have to look forward to our next holiday!
