Introducing solid

Time really flies, Vincy is 6 mths old today. Mummy started introducing solid to her today. A picture tells a thousand words so this was how everything went on today.
Nestle rice cereal with milk:

A happy gal waiting for her food:

This was what she looked like after a few mouths of cereal:

She tried to blow bubbles when I was feeding her, so she ended up like this:

A cranky girl, losing interest and trying to escape from food after a while:

In the end, poured away more than half a bowl of cereal.

Summary: failed mission but good try.

What did Mei mei do.......

What did this sweet and cutie Mei mei do her to Gor gor?

She spit out milk on her poor Gor gor's face while he was carrying her.

Gor gor screamed and complained but mummy still took picture of the milk on his face before helping him to clean it off! Hee hee!

Drawing

Mummy kept Clarence entertained this whole afternoon with drawing of cartoons. He followed step by step instructions from a cartoon book and drew these cartoons. After drawing, he threw the papers into the waste paper basket, so these pictures were taken from the crumpled paper mummy salvaged from the bin.

Thanks to Auntie Janet who helped me get this $1 book, really value for money!

Curry

Last Sunday morning, when we asked Clarence what he wanted for breakfast, he said roti prata with curry. We were shocked cos he doesn't take spicy food. According to him, he said he tried it before at Ah mah's house and it was yummy. So we went to Jalan Kayu for prata and he really dipped his prata with the curry!

Yummy, yummy!

Worried mummy

Mummy brought Vincy to the PD for her vaccine and assessment yesterday. She weighs 5.69kg and measures 61.5cm. Her weight has fallen to the 3rd percentile but she maintains her height at the 10th percentile. The PD was concerned about her slow weight gain but other than that, she is meeting her developmental milestone, in fact a little faster than some infants. Mummy was very worried about my little darling's weight gain. Hopefully she can pile up more kg when I start her on solid this Friday.

Look at the active girl (5 mths 4 wks) pulling herself to stand and leaning against the sofa to grab things.

She seems active and healthy but despite boss's reassurance, mummy is still very disturbed by her weight issue.

Self-portrait

Clarence did a self-portrait in art class last sat. According to the teacher, she held a mirror and let him look into it to see his reflection and drew what he saw. For a not creative person like me, I thought that was rather interesting. He drew himself and his teacher and after he was done, he even told the teacher he must outline the picture. The teacher was impressed by his concentration and initiative. She said Clarence improved a lot cos he used to draw small objects but now he could draw them bigger.

Clarence's portrait of himself and his teacher looked so funny!
Another good thing to mention, he did well in his swimming class. He regained his confidence and swam a whole lap again!

Walker

Searched in the messy store to get Clarence's walker for Vincy to sit. Yeah! now I have one more place to contain the active girl. The bumbo chair is no longer safe and I cannot let her crawl in the living room floor as there are a lot of dog fur and she keeps putting her fingers into her mouth. So the walker is another activity centre to keep her entertained.

The look-alikes

One can really tell they are boss's children by looking at their faces. When Clarence was born, everyone said Clarence looked like mini boss. When Vincy was born, all also commented she was a mini version of boss and Clarence. They just look like him!

Hmm, seems that I am the outcast in the family.

So disappointing, my children don't resemble me although I was the one who carried them in my womb for nine months and gave birth to them.

Just for fun

Mummy got nothing to do the other day so got gor gor and mei mei to take picture. Silly mummy put clips and hairbands on both of them and silly gor gor played along too. Boss says he "没眼看" (in Cantonese).

Scooter push

Today was Clarence's 3rd inline skating lesson. The green carpet has been removed completely. They are skating on the court today. The new skill picked up was called the scooter push (or scootering). My lazy boy was dreaming in class and this was the best video I took for the day.

Zoo

We went to zoo on Sunday. First stop was the Rainforest kidzworld. Clarence brought along his watering can this time so I don't need to buy any drinks to get a plastic cup for him to play in the water.

The BIG Bucket!!!

Clarence in his doggie towel, pretending to be a dog after boss bathed him.

River crossing: Boss had a difficult time pulling the boat back when there were many passengers (adult and children) on it who were not helping to pull at all and a naughty boy who was pulling in the opposite direction.

Feeding the goat with leaves on the floor. Opps, think we were not supposed to do that.

This was the first time we visited the fragile forest. It was very interesting inside cos we really see the animals from such a close distance. Naughty Clarence was chasing the poor ducks and butterflies there. I really pity those animals frightened by him.

Totally exhausted after the excursion! We bought lunch home and blasted the aircon to enjoy our late lunch.

Fridge magnet

Clarence did a fridge magnet during his art lesson on Sat. He attempted to cut out the shapes required but the circle he cut did not look like a circle, so the teacher cut out the shapes for him and he did the sticking and colour combination. Weird, but he drew a spider on the doll's clothes. He simply loves these yucky creatures like dinosaurs, rhinos and crocodiles. The fridge magnet is now on the fridge serving its purpose.

Inching forward

At 5 and 1/2 mths, Vincy is already inching forward. Looks like she will be crawling in no time.

She can push herself up with the support of pillows, and push herself out even when I stack two pillows on top of each other. Extremely mobile girl.

Origami

After reading Auntie Janet's blog on Isaac's art class, mummy got inspired and decided to do origami with Clarence. I did a search and found an origami website. The site provide diagrams and animations about origami for everyone for free. So I chose some simple ones and did with Clarence.

It was quite fun and we both enjoyed ourselves.

Skating lesson 2

We bought skates and guards for Clarence last saturday. My boy is very well equipped now. The coach revised what they have learnt last week and taught them how to heel stop this week. The green mat was also partially removed so it was harder to move around now. Clarence was losing his concentration after half an hour, so poor mummy got to walk beside him to encourage and teach him (theory only cos mummy don't know how to skate too). The lazy boy asked me why must they walk so many times. My answer: cos you are not doing well enough so must practice more!

A very tired and sweaty boy after the lesson. His whole head was wet! Really good work-out.

Jigsaw Puzzle

Since young, Clarence is not really talented in fixing puzzles. The other day, while I was watching TV and boss and mei mei were sleeping, he was in his room alone. I thought he was playing toys but to my surprise, when I went in to check on him, he was trying to piece the 48 piece dinosaur puzzle by himself. It was the first time he tried to do it himself. All along, I have been the one doing it with him. So when he could finish it by himself, I was quite surprised. Cos I never thought he could do it. Therefore, I quickly took a picture of the completed puzzle. He was very happy when he finished the puzzle. Mummy was happy too.

Riding on shark

Bought a shark float for Clarence the other day and finally had the chance for him to ride his shark in Chestervale swimming pool.

Posing for photos with his shark before riding

Riding the shark in the pool

Actually he kept falling off the shark. I think his enjoyment was falling off compared to riding.

Siting unaided

Last Saturday, when we were at Auntie Janet's place, Clarence and mummy discovered that Vincy could sit unaided for a few seconds. We were both so excited! My girl is sure growing up fast.

Saturday

Swimming lesson in the morning.

Clarence is still trying to coordinate his pizza hands and circle legs to perfect his breaststroke.

For art lesson, Clarence told his teacher he wanted to draw Ben 10 aliens. So the teacher taught him how to draw grey matter and wildmutt. He used cotton wool as sponge to decorate the background for his grey matter. The art teacher gave him some Ben 10 stickers after his lesson.

Vincy was so used to sleeping on her tummy so we had no choice but to let her sleep on her tummy in the stroller while we went shopping after Clarence's art lesson.

Pledge

Watch Clarence take the pledge! The first time I heard him recite the pledge, I burst out laughing. The second time when he did it, I had to control my laughter so that I will not shake the camera. After recording, I laughed and laughed. Real funny!

I think our leaders will faint if they hear Clarence's pledge!

BP Dinner and Dance

Boss and I brought Vincy along to BP's dinner and dance yesterday. Clarence was left at ah mah's house cos we only have 2 seats for the dinner.
Best part of the dinner: Ang Pow for staff ($680)!
Disappointing part: bad service from the waiter and we went home without winning anything in the lucky draw.
Surprise: boss was made to serve the first dish for the evening!

Sit-up

We have been jeering at Clarence for the past 2 weeks for not being able to do sit-up. He will get very angry when we laugh at him. Recently he managed to use the right set of muscle to pull himself up and he is very proud of it. So we asked him to do and recorded it down for him to see.

Mummy is on MC

Mummy woke up with a diarrhoea this morning. Boss volunteered to take leave today to stay at home to look after me and the kids. So I am on MC today. I made countless trips to the toilet and is still going now. I have a headache and my whole body is aching and I feel cold. Think I am going to get a fever soon. I am very stressed now. I have been taking po chai yuan and I must get well tomorrow so that I can be there for my kids. Think I will take paracetamol before I go to bed tonight. Cannot afford to be sick tomorrow! Stay at home mum cannot fall sick!

First in-line skating lesson

Clarence went for his first in-line skating class today. He was very excited about the class. He asked me to put on his guards and gloves while we were waiting for his class to begin. Once he put on the skates, he could not wait to get up but he could not get up by himself.

Daddy coach trying to teach Clarence before lesson starts.

All ready to start the class

Learning how to get up with the skates

I can stand up now!

After mastering how to stand up, the coach taught them how to fall. It is important to fall correctly so that they will not hurt themselves.

Clarence learning the fall

They also taught them how to turn one round with the V and 11 leg. After that, they taught them to lift up their legs and walked with the skates. I am really thankful to one of the coach for pulling Clarence aside to teach him in an interesting way cos Clarence was the youngest in the class and he was tired and losing his concentration towards the end of the class.
