Sleep with the penguins Part 1

Signed up for the Sleep with penguins camp at Jurong Bird Park (30 Nov and 1 Dec). Initially signed up for the 3 of them but Mummy went along in the end cos Daddy wanted us to go as a whole family as it would be more "Fun". Took some pictures while waiting for the rest of our camp mates to report.

After reporting and playing some ice-breaker games, we went to see the penguins.

Got to see and touch penguin fur from the penguin specimen:

Penguin fins:

Penguin feet:

It started to drizzle so we put on our raincoats and went ahead.

Went to the Breeding and Research centre to see little birds in the incubator and attended a short lesson on different eggs and saw a live demonstration on how they feed the little birds.

Clarence with Ostrich egg:

Daddy with emu egg:

Meimei with Cassowary egg:

Next we went to feed the pelicans.

The pelican feet:

Went over to the Waterfall Aviary to try to feed worms to the birds. Mission failed cos it was raining and the birds were hiding.

The main attraction of the camp: Meeting the penguin up close and personal.
This is Chocolate, an African penguin:

Oops, Chocolate pooed while meeting us.

Family photo taking session with Chocolate:

Got to stroke Chocolate too:

Dinner time:

Then tent pitching:

Daddy was the fastest in tent pitching, well done!
This will be our home for the night.

Lesson time: Meet the specimen owl and know more about them.

Seeing the real owls in World of Darkness:

Campfire in air con room, shiok!
Sang songs and played charade and pinata.

Sleeping time. Our inflatable mattresses in use again. Mattresses for the mummy and Vincy.

Daddy and Clarence using sleeping bag. However, it was very cold in the air con penguin enclosure so in the end, Daddy's sleeping bag was stolen away by us as blanket.

Some shots with the penguins before turning in.

The kids slept well but Daddy and Mummy could not really sleep well cos it was too cold and bright in the Penguin Coast. Wonder why the lights in the Penguin Coast was not turned off at night?
No complaints cos it was already very comfortable (with air con) as compared to the Zoo camp they went to last year where they had to sleep in the hot and humid weather in the open.
