Vincy's Observation Report (Sep 2010)

Received Vincy's observation Report (Sep 2010) yesterday.
Physical (Gross/Fine)
Vincy is still working on both her gross and fine motor and has developed a certain degree of attainments which allow her to master some self-help skills such as putting on her shoes. She is also able to walk up the stairs independently by holding the handrail and landing on both feet after hopping.

Intellectual/ Cognitive
Vincy has good recognition over objects or pictures that were introduced. She is able to identify them by pointing. She makes good effort to pronounce a vocab if she knows.
She works relatively well with individual puzzles and capable of simple problem solving.

Social/ Emotional/ Moral
Vincy has started to become very vocal about her wants and needs. However, as she is not yet fully capable of expressing herself clearly, there are times when she will encounter conflicts with her peers. Vincy is very responsive in class and participates actively during circle time. She likes talking to the teachers and enjoys reading books and particularly loves story-telling time.

Overall comments
Vincy is a cheerful girl with a bright smile who loves having her photographs taken and enjoys story-telling and reading. She encourages her friends to follow instructions and sets an exemplary example for the others to follow. Vincy gets excited and is very enthusiastic when it comes to learning new things, and her curiosity to explore greatly helps in her overall development.

Singapore Flyer

Clarence drew the F1 race cars with the Singapore Flyer as the backdrop. The flyer was actually made from a paper plate. They cut a hole in the paper plate and put paper fastener on the paper capsules so that the capsules of the flyer can be turned. Quite innovative, I won't be able to think of such ideas for art.

Everything was nice except the bat. I had no idea why Clarence must draw a bat there and spoil the whole picture. According to him, he said bats come out at night, so he drew a bat. I could not help but peep his classmate's piece of work, no bats.
Wonder if he is creative or he simply refuse to follow instruction?

I asked Clarence what was the yellow object. He told me the yellow object the first car driver was holding on to was a trophy for coming in first.

Cycling

We went cycling at East Coast Park on Sunday. Vincy was my pillion passenger.

Clarence did not know how to cycle yet so initially we wanted to rent one with a pillion seat but he was over the weight limit. So we rented a tandem bike for him and daddy to cycle together.
I thought it was such a good idea, he could cycle along too.

BUT, look at his legs:

His legs were not the pedals at all. Faint!

Downstairs

We went downstairs to play with Clarence's new flying iron man toy. We tried flying it at home but it kept knocked on the ceiling and crashed.

Not better downstairs too:

Mei mei played with the scooter:

After a while, we suggested daddy to go upstairs to get bicycles for the kids. While waiting for the bicycle. I got them to pose for the camera.

2nd bicycle riding lesson for Clarence:

Clarence still needs more practice!

She got it right

Vincy surprised me just now by coming out with Barney in her arms and said "Barney" loud and clear. She used to call Barney "wear wear" but she got it right today.
She also manage to call me "mummy" instead of "mama" just now. I have been trying to get her to pronounce "mummy" but she ends up saying "mimi" so she always call me mama. I am so glad she finally got it right today!

Note

Yesterday, I left Clarence's 听写纸 on the dining table and wrote him a note to ask him to study cos I have forgotten to revise with him the night before. He woke up before I left for work so I reminded him to revise before he go to school.

When I came back home in the afternoon, I saw Clarence's reply on the 听写纸:

This is the first time my son leave a note for me!

中秋节

Mummy brought the kids downstairs to carry lantern. To my surprise, there was a Mid Autumn Festival celebration and they provide free popcorn, drinks, fries, nuggets, bee hoon, nasi lemak, balloons, bouncing castle. Unbelievable, all free!

I bought the traditional type lanterns for them this year, dun really fancy those battery operated ones with noisy music.
Superman for gor gor and Barney for meimei

Both of them carried their lanterns and walked round the little park.

Surprisingly, nobody's lantern was burnt. I sort of expect their lanterns to be burnt, especially meimei's. Meimei was very cute, she would come back to me when the candle in her lantern went off and tell me "no light".

Met some of our neighbours downstairs and gor gor got to play with free sparklers.

She made this

Vincy made this Bee lantern in school.

Done from recycled bottle

Think she painted the bottle orange and the teacher printed and bee picture for her.

Spin stop

It has been quite some time since I last update Clarence's inline skating progress. It is because mummy is always chit chatting with his classmates' parents instead of watching him. Felt a bit guilty hence I took some videos of him learning spin stop yesterday. He was practicising Mohawk too. Seriously I do not really know the difference between the 2 cos they were both turns.

Getting ready

Vincy was holding a sweet when I picked her from school yesterday. The teacher told me she gave Vincy a sweet because she danced well during the practice in school for the year end concert. Mummy asked Vincy to dance for me to see before I opened the sweet for her.

Wonder if she will dare to dance on stage on the actual day?

Vincy's new baby

Mummy bought a new baby doll for Vincy yesterday. Part of the reason was because the doll was on sale (and I rarely buy toys for Vincy, she always plays with gor gor's old toys) and her old doll needed to be replaced. The leg of her old doll kept falling off and it was weird to see a baby without a leg.
The new baby doll can kick her legs, cry, laugh and will pee and poo when u feed her water or juice and you can change her diaper. Cool!

Vincy is watching the TV with her baby.

Feeding her baby:

Drinking milk together:

Ask her whose baby is that, she will tell u "Meimei's baby".

Lantern

Clarence made a lantern during his art class yesterday. It was made of paper plates. However, the lantern was crushed by Clarence minutes after he came out from his class. After lunch, one of the cellophane paper came off when Clarence was holding and playing with it.
Today, Vincy played with it and she tore out another piece of the cellophane paper. A pity but I will be throwing the lantern away soon.

Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration

Brought the kids to my school's Mid-Autumn Festival celebration tonight.

After the buffet, Clarence had fun bouncing in the bouncing castle.

Vincy was scared and did not want to go in. After some coaxing, she was then willing to sit in the castle and watch the rest jump.

Carrying lantern time:

Clarence's lantern was lighted but Vincy's lantern was not lighted. Reason: no more candles and I presume she would burn the lantern in no time if there was fire.

Clarence was complaining how come I did not let him carry his own lantern (the one I bought). I told him to save the lantern for his school's celebration later.
Vincy was very well-behaved when she was with me. She walked all around with me. However, when daddy came, the moment she saw him, she asked daddy to carry her and she was carried by daddy for the entire night. Her daddy really spoils her.

Long time no see

Saw this standee in United Square few weeks ago. The courtesy lion! It belongs to my generation, hasn't seen it around for quite some time.

Clarence has no idea what this courtesy lion is all about.

Ride

Last Friday, we went to watch Cats and Dogs with the Lees at Downtown East. Mei mei sat on Uncle Leon's lap and ate popcorn for quite some time while watching the movie. We asked her to come over to us but she refused. So next time we should go and watch movie with the Lees (free babysit service for a while). Ha!
After the movie, we went for lunch and took kiddie ride. Wanted to try out the ice bumper car but the queue was too long, so we went to try out 4D snow roller coaster instead. The trill factor was supposed to be level 10 but besides being bumpy, I did not find it trilling. My timid Clarence told me he cried a little initially but he said he wanted to take the ride again after we came down.

Neat and tidy

Whenever mummy is on holiday, mummy will tie up meimei's hair neatly before sending her up the bus to school.

However, most of the time she will just go to school with no clip and her hair untied, cos daddy claims he does not know how to tie and he has no time to do so in the morning. (Rushing every morning to cook porridge for meimei and send the kids)

A "nua" getaway

We went for a 2 day 1 night stay at Crowne Plaza Hotel (Changi Airport) last weekend. It was meant to be a do nothing, just "nua" holiday.
Setting out in the afternoon:

The strong daddy pulling the kids:

In the hotel room, meimei was busy drawing and gor gor was busy watching the TV.

The nice toilet:

One thing I like about the toilet is it's open concept, the blind can be drawn up or down according to your preference.

Good in a way for us when they are playing in the bathtub, we can sit on the sofa and watch them, instead of staying in the toilet with them.

Another special feature of the room is we can see the runway from our room. We can see the planes taxi on the runway.

Forgetful mummy forgot to bring gor gor's trunks and we could not get a pair for him in the shops at the Airport so daddy drove back home to get the trunks.
We went shopping while waiting for him and took some pictures at the hotel lobby.

Back in the room, meimei could not wait to get into the pool. I told her to change later but the "gan choing" gal started putting on her swimming pantie.
Problem is, she got it all wrong. First, she put on the pantie without taking off the diaper.

And after putting on the pantie, she then went to put on her swim diaper, all in the wrong sequence!

After mummy changed her, we got gor gor to take a photo for us.

At the pool:

Daddy playing with Vincy:

Vincy enjoyed herself so much that she refused to come out of the water. Whenever my dear took her out, she would jump in again.
After swimming, we went for dinner in T3. Then we went to redeem our free kiddie ride in the B2 carpark. Meimei was so scared of the rides. She did not want to take and would cover her eyes when she saw the big cars coming. So funny!

Vincy surprised us that day. When I went to toilet with gor gor, she said pee pee to me so I brought her in as well and just let her try. She really pee pee!
As usual, Clarence complained about the holiday being too short.
