Meet the Dinosaurs

We went to the Hollywood Dinos at the Bird Park last Saturday. We reached there at 10.20am and there was already a long queue waiting to get in. We queued for 40 mins before we got in. We opted for free and easy tour instead of a guided one.
Picture taken at the entrance:

The first dinosaur that we saw:

There was a man inside the dino and I think the dinosaur skin was too heavy so they needed 2 staff to help to support.
Picture taken with the standee:

Clarence was very excited when he saw the dinosaurs which could moved a little and roared.

We went into the cave:

The most exciting part in the cave was crossing the shaky bridge and the rubber dinosaur (with man inside) that sprang out to frighten us.
Last stop: Digging for fossils

One side of Clarence's face and body was covered with sand after Dubery accidentally threw some sand on him:

We spent 40 minutes in the small park. I would say it was a bit disappointing. I expected a lot more dinosaurs and expected some machine operated ones walking around. Maybe I have too high expectations. But even Clarence thinks the number of dinosaurs were too little.

Updates of Clarence

Clarence proudly told me he wrote in his communication book yesterday.

A bit untidy but good try son! Mummy understand what you are writing. Good that the teacher starts training them to write in their communication book. Getting them ready for primary 1.
Clarence mastered his 2, 3 and 4 times table recently.
Still trying very hard to read, proof: (first time reading this book)

Will fall asleep when he is reading, I swear! Cos he is reading too slowly. So I am trying to get him to read a little bit everyday to build up his confidence and speed. To date, he has finished reading 8 books all by himself.
As for chinese, I will ask him to write 20 words that he has learnt in school everyday (except weekends) to help him to remember what he has learnt.

Reaching 16 mths

Brought Vincy for her MMR jab just now. At 15 mths and 3 wks old, Vincy weight is 10.1kg and height is 79cm. Her height and weight are both in the 75th percentile now. A pleasant surprise for me! She is growing well!

If you are happy!

Vincy dancing to the song:

She knows how to clap her hands and stomp her feet, needs to work harder on the hurray part.

Go to sleep

This is what happens when you ask Vincy to go and sleep.

She is a very independent girl. She will lie down on her bed, suck her fingers and sleep. She does not need us to lie down with her.

The Giant Tortoise

We went to Zoo on Sun and the highlight of the trip was feeding the Giant Tortoise.

The boys posing with the Giant Tortoise.

The tortoises are very friendly and they like to be stroke under the neck. All touched the tortoise except meimei and mummy. We were a bit weary of them.

Videos of feeding the tortoise with apples:

This Giant tortoise is 75 years old and weighs about 265 kg.

Clarence was sad when he finished feeding and had to leave.
His remark was: So fast?
Posing with the statue crocodile with his cousin Dubery. (Taking turns to be eaten by the buaya)

They played a game at one of the stall. You put on a glove and have to reach into the plastic bottle to grab as many grapes or peanuts as possible in a minute. 20 grapes can exchange for a soft toy monkey. Clarence only managed to get 8 grapes so he got a bookmark instead. Look at the sad look on his face! He wanted to get the soft toy not the bookmark.

Play

During last week's skating class, Auntie Zann brought along a mat and some toys for the meimeis to play while waiting for their gor gors to finish their skating class. The toys kept them entertained for a good 15 minutes and saved the adults from chasing after the gals and looking after them. We could also sit down and chit chat while they play.

Happy feet

When the daddy asked Clarence what did he draw for art that day, Clarence replied Happy feet.
Daddy took a look at the picture and had a shockSmileyCentral.com. Because he really expect to see a pair of happy feet instead of a penguin. Ha ha! My son is so influnced by TV.

Contended father

The contended father admiring his daughter when she fell asleep in his arms. Although Vincy is our second baby, she is the only baby that will let the daddy carry like that. Clarence used to reject the father when he was young. Everything must be done with mummy only!

My babies

My Vincy meimei on the changing table:

My Clarence gor gor on the changing table pretending to be a baby:

I am already beginning to miss them even before I go back to work. I miss the quality time spent with my dear too. Once I go back to work, I reckon I won't have so much time with my husband and kids.

Power of the Omnitrix

We went to watch Power of the Omnitrix (5pm) on Sunday after the SCSM run. Boss felt better after resting at home for the whole afternoon, so he joined us for the show. I prefer the first segment , the second segment was a bit slow (too much talking). Most importantly, Clarence likes the show. Vincy as usual fell asleep during the show.

SCSM 2009 Kids Dash

Woke up excitedly in the morning to go for the SCSM 2009 750m Kids Dash.
Boss had diarrhoea and felt nauseous so mummy decided to call cab to bring Clarence for his first run (not confident to drive there cos not sure what roads were closed).

Met Isaac and Ryan there. Posing before the run.

Clarence surprised me when he started doing warm up. I had no idea he knew how to do warm up. Must have learnt it in school.

The runners with the parents running with them. (see the tags on our hands)

Went to assemble. It was a rather long wait cos we still need to wait for the other categories to move off before it was our turn.

When do you get to lie down on the road? During the SCSM! The kids demonstrating:

Met Luke at the starting point.

Our turn soon. While waiting for the race to start, Clarence and Isaac talked about the Ben 10 show (Power of the Omitrix) and played silly games.

They played Barney song and the kids danced to the music while waiting.

The race has started:

Running:

Throughout the run, the only word from Clarence was : TIRED.

Mummy ran with Clarence and was shocked to find that running 750m could be so tiring. But I was very glad Clarence persevered and finished the race. He only stopped to walk for less than 5 seconds. Good job, son!
Finally reached the finishing point: This was the longest distance Clarence has ever run!

Yes, both mummy and son survived the run! Mummy was very tired after the run, partly because of lack of exercise for so many years and running without breakfast. I never thought I was so unfit now. I used to run and win 1.5km in my secondary school days and always came in top 3 for cross country run. What happened to me?
We all finish the race, Yeah!

The boys each got a medal for completing the race.
After the race, we walked over to the Kids Zone for some games. No pictures of the Kids Zone cos mummy was too tired to take any pictures. Clarence jumped in 2 bouncing castles before giving up. Mummy was totally shag out under the hot sun after the run. So when Clarence told me he did not want to play anymore, I gladly said yes. Although he didn't want to play, he still want to get the free visor so mummy went up to a staff mending one of the stalls and requested him to help me chop 3 more stamps on Clarence's card so that he could redeem the visor. (5 stamps to redeem the free gift)
Chill out at MacDonald's after the race to replenish our energy. Clarence kissing his first medal.

The free gift: visor

After his shower and nap, Clarence woke up complaining of leg ache. The filial daddy massaging his son's leg.

I asked Clarence if he would like to run again next year, his answer was no cos it was too hot and tiring. So we told him we will run a shorter route next year and he agreed. My theory: He will be a year older so the same distance will seem shorter for him. Ha ha! Next year daddy will run with Clarence while mummy will walk with Vincy in the below 3 years old category.

Bunny

Clarence's skinny version of bunny:

He added in details like grass, flowers, tree, sun, bird and snakes.
